RonLePage Chair Georgian Bay Metis CouncilMeet Chair Ron LePage

Ron is a direct descendant of Jean-Baptiste Trudeau and Angelique Papanaatyhianencoe who arrived from Drummond Island in 1828.  Besides being the Blacksmith at the British Naval and Military Establishment, Jean Baptiste was a fisherman.  That tradition carried down through the generations and Ron’s father Henry was well known as a commercial fisherman and restauranteur on Georgian Bay.  His brother Bernard continues to fish and is the last known Metis commercial fisherman on Georgian Bay.

Ron had a 42 year career in nursing and just recently retired from Waypoint Centre where he worked for the last 23 years of his career.  Throughout his working years Ron was also involved with whichever Union happened to be at his worksite.  He was elected and served as Vice-President of the OPSEU Local 329 at Waypoint as well as on a couple of provincial committees including the OPSEU Provincial Human Rights Committee and the OPSEU Indigenous Circle.  Through his work on the committees, Ron has gained a great amount of best practice knowledge and experience related to how committees and boards function and best operate to deliver meaningful and quality service to the public they serve.  As Chair of the Georgian Bay Metis Council, Ron’s pledge is to continue to deliver that same level of quality service to the Metis Citizens in the GBMC catchment area.

He can be reached by email at gbmc.ronald.lepage@gmail.com and by text or phone at 705-527-5237.

Please call Ron if you have any questions, concerns, ideas to better serve the Citizens or just to say hello and chat about what events are coming up.
